Software Engineering unit is looking for research assistants for Summer 2024 to work in the Open Programming and Database Courses project:

The assistant(s) would be responsible for developing an online tool to assist students in selecting the suitable courses based on their earlier experience and future motivation. Additional tasks, such as designing and implementing course content, developing methods for AI-based tutoring etc. could be included.

Software engineering unit is responsible for software engineering master’s level teaching, interaction design master’s level teaching and bachelor’s level programming courses at the University of Turku. The Software Engineering unit’s research is motivated by our digitalizing society’s increasing dependency on software and the challenges of building reliable, correct, efficient, and user-friendly software predictably and effectively. Duration of internship: 3 months

Period: 1.5. – 31.8.2023 (negotiable)

Salary: The salary is 2100 euros/month.

Trial period is one month.

What are the requirements for the position?

  • Good programming skills
  • Experience on (or ability to quickly learn) web-based technologies such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, Vaadin, or similar.
  • Good communication skills in English

What do we consider an advantage?

  • Graphic design skills
  • Experience in designing UI and UX
  • Knowledge of basic software engineering tools, such as Git
  • Knowledge in other software engineering topics
  • Knowledge in artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques
  • Experience or interest in teaching activities
